Abstract: For the purpose of ensuring the safety of drivers and passengers on the roads, as well as for the management of traffic and the enforcement of laws, the detection of vehicle speeds is an essential com- ponent of modem transportation systems. In this paper, we investigate the application of computer vision algorithms to the task of determining the speed of a vehicle. For the purpose of determining how long it takes a car to travel a specific distance, this technique makes use of image pro-cessing algorithms in conjunction with a camera that is mounted on a tripod. According to the findings, the proposed method is able to provide accurate speed readings with a certain amount of average error, and it is also able to withstand variations in the types of vehicles and lighting conditions._x000D_ Keywords: Vehicle Speed Detection Image Processing Computer Vision Feature Extraction Perspectives.
