Academic Address Book (STUDEX)

Abstract

STUDEX is an integrated system that merges user authentication, student data administration, and secure data retention to effectively manage information in educational institutions. Developed as an integral part of the educational program for CSET:202 Data structures STUDEX, a software application, was created by Abhinav Srivastava, V Harshath, and Aadarsh Singh Tomar using the programming language C++. The task has two main components: user authentication and student data management. The user authentication system ensures the privacy and security of user credentials, allowing users to establish an account, log in, and make use of the comprehensive functionalities of STUDEX. The system employs a secure file, designated as 'secure.txt, to precisely save and retrieve user data into memory at program initialization. This systematic approach not only improves a smooth user experience but also ensures the confidentiality and precision of user information. Once users have successfully verified their identification, they are sent to the major component of STUDEX, which is a comprehensive system designed to manage student information. The student information is stored in a vector named 'students' and an unordered map named 'studentMap' using a flexible data structure, which leads to a very efficient and versatile solution. Using these data structures ensures effective and organized retrieval of student information, laying the foundation for a fast and user-friendly interface. The student details management system encompasses a variety of features that allow users to search, add, delete, and modify student information. The 'searchStudentDetails' function allows for efficient retrieval of student information by using the enrollment number as a parameter, therefore providing users with a full picture of a student's academic history. Conversely, the 'addStudentDetails' function simplifies the process of adding new students, guaranteeing that the system remains up-to-date with the evolving academic landscape.
