Abstract: Developing a reliable and effective system to compress digital files for transmission and storage, along with a way to recover the original content from compressed files, are the goals of the File Compression and Decompression Project. Optimization of storage capacity, reduction of data transfer times, and improvement of system performance are all dependent on file compression. With an emphasis on both lossless and lossy methods, the project involves the design and implementation of compression algorithms. In contrast to lossy compression, which compromises some data fidelity in favour of higher compression ratios, lossless compression guarantees that the compressed file can be precisely restored to its original form without any data loss. According to their unique needs, users can select any of these approaches thanks to the project's flexibility.
