Abstract: Abstract: The thought of living in a digital and tech-savvy world is very prominent today. It is widely believed that the use of technology is at the apex in every aspect of life. Immense development in the field of connectivity, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and Internet of Things (IoT) has made it possible to acquire an understanding of social as well as machine behavior to a great extent. Various businesses are taking advantage of this situation to gain a competitive advantage. This phenomenon could also be applied to achieve environmental sustainability even if according to one school of thought, technological development is the primary reason behind environmental degradation. This chapter tries to explore the application of IoT and Big Data for environmental sustainability in developing countries, especially, India.
