Abstract: The General Data Protection Regulation of the European Union states that children’s personally identifiable information should be afforded additional protections. This is due to the fact that children are often less aware of the risks and repercussions associated with revealing their data. Regarding the use of minors’ personal information for marketing, user profile creation, or data gathering, it is recommended that additional safeguards be put in place. The General Data Protection Regulation’s Article 8 outlines the processes for gaining minors’ consent. The GDPR-K acronym is occasionally used to refer to the parts of the GDPR that deal with protecting children’s personal information. The GDPR provides for a wider material and territorial scope, stricter sanctions, and emphasizes concepts such as privacy by design and the rights of data subjects, including the right to erasure and the right to data portability. The GDPR consists a number of provisions that explicitly aim to protect the child data subject’s right to data protection. In contemporary eras due to significant technological progress, globalisation and the emergence of new business models have contributed to the collection and processing of personal data on an ever-increasing scale.
