Abstract: Climate change is a lived experience for all humans around the world notwithstanding different interpretations on the anthropogenic effect(s) on climate change by governments, scientists and policy makers. The Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement under the framework of the United Nations Framework on Climate Change (UNFCC) has provided for obligations on States to fulfill their common but differentiated responsibility in protection of the environment and mitigating the effect of climate change by targeting reduction of fossil fuel dependence and correspondingly greenhouse gas emissions. While developed countries have the technological wherewithal to meet these obligations, many developing countries which are particularly vulnerable to climate change extremities do not possess the financial and technological resources for these challenges. The paper critically analyzes the role of technology transfer for developing countries such as India in combating the adverse effects of climate change.
