Abstract: Global warming has become one of the most discussed topics among the world communities. There has been observed a significant rise in greenhouse gas emissions GHG) during the last few decades. The main purpose of this study is to analyze the trend in GHG emissions among countries especially in India as compared to the global level. The study also identified the key sectors of the economy mainly responsible for the rise in the GHG level. For this purpose, secondary sources have been used to collect the data. The study has come up with potential mitigation strategies for reducing GHG emissions in India and the world, considering both technological and policy-based approaches.
