Abstract: Status of plastic waste generation in India India stands in fifth position in the United Nation Environmental Program (UNEP) of countries on plastic waste generation [1]. Every day 15,000 tons of plastic garbage are produced in India of which 60% is collected and recycled. [2]. In general plastic wastage is divided into two categories Pre-consumer waste - Diverted during a manufacturing process. Also called post-industrial plastic waste (discarded waste with a few faults or mistakes in its packaging printing or is not properly packaged) [2]. Post-consumer waste - Plastic material generated by the end users and reached its end of lifecycle and no longer usable. it is also called post-use plastic waste. Example: (i) Residential waste, (ii) Commercial waste (shopping malls, markets, offices, constructions), (iii) Industrial waste (electrical waste, automobile waste) [2]. The volume of the Indian plastic sector has grown at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10%, from 8.3 million metric tons per annum (MMTPA) in 2010 to 13.4 million metric tons per annum (MMTPA) in 2015. The Indian plastic sector is estimated to develop at a CAGR of 10.5% from 2015 to 2023,
