Abstract: Rapid strides in technological advancements and impact of online education due to the prevailing pandemic has brought in new challenges. Mushrooming of law colleges and COVID related restrictions have highlighted the lack of accessibility of resources to law students including libraries. The present paper inter alia aims to focus on the powers of the Bar Council of India to regulate legal education as derived under Sections 7(1)(h) and(i) of the Advocates Act 1961. It paper further attempts to understand the recommendations of the 184th Law Commission report and various committees on reform of legal education, the judgments of the Supreme Court and the directions or measures to bring in substantial changes in the context of the challenges present today.
